Apply Striking and Fielding activities in a range of sports and activities.

PE modelling book

My Strengths

The striking strategies I was able to effectively demonstrate during the games we played were following through and keeping my eye on the ball.

The throwing and catching strategies I was able to effectively demonstrate during the games we played were soft hands to catch the ball and having a good stance to throw the ball.

My Next Steps

To improve my striking of a ball I need to hit the ball harder so it will go further.

To Improve my catching and fielding I need to judge what way the winds going because a few of my throws went a bit to high because the wind was going that way.

The game that I enjoyed the most was Rounders because you got to hit the ball, run and field.

Find and validate data measures eg Mean, Median, Mode and Range from appropriate displays

Maths

Median- The middle number in a set of data eg 1,2,3,4,5.

Mode- The number you see the most eg 1,5,516,.

Mean- when you add up the set of data and how ever many numbers there are you divide it by that amount eg 1+3+3+6+9+16+18=56 and there's 7 numbers so you divided it by 7 and the answer is 8.

Range- You get the lowest number and the highest number eg 1, 3,3,6,9,16,18 and you would subtract the lowest number from the highest number which is 18 - 1= 17.

Apply standard form

W.A.L.T: Apply standard form, significant figures, rounding and decimal place values
My solo level is Extended Abstract because I know how to apply standard form
My next step is to have a teacher conference so I can get a new goal
Above is my evidence

Merit Evidence Kauri team event 1

Kauri team event/ Run, Bike, Run

On Monday the Kauri team had the Run, Bike, Run.

We were having the event at the Halswell domain.

We left school at 10 and arrived at the domain at 10.30. The bikers put their bikes in transition and then headed to the athletes Village where everyone else was sitting.

At around 11 the races started and the games. Race 1 started which are the 8 year old individuals and the 8 year old teams. The games started as well and the Miro house captains which are Samantha L and Xanthe started doing their game French Cricket with the year 6.

Next Race 2 started. This was the 9 year old individuals an d the 9 year old teams. The next game was with the Kowhai house captains Jack M and Alicia. They played Dodge ball and the age group with them was 11 and 12 which means I could play. The game was really fun.

Then it was time for Race 3. This was the 10 year old individuals and 10 year old teams. The game this time was with the Rimu house captains which is Monique and I. The age group we had was the 8 year old's. We played Indian Tag and it went really well but it was hard making them focus on the game.

Now it was time for the 11 and 12 year old races which is my race. I was doing it as an individual. I was really nervous but the race went really well. In the end I came third to Samantha L and Xanthe but I still get to go to Zones because the top 5 get to go,

Next it was time for prize giving. The top 3 individuals from each age group got their medal and then it was time to go. (What I did).

I showed Excellence by trying my hardest.

Merit Evidence Kapa Haka 3

Kapa haka

On Friday I had Kapa Haka. It was at 10.30.

I walked over to the hall quickly and respectfully and took my shoes off in the hall foyer.

Once I was inside I sat down in my spot and talked quietly to the people beside me.

The first song we sang was He honere. We did this as a warm up.

Next we sang Hareruia. We decided this will be our opening song for the Cultural festival but only a few people will be on stage at the start singing then the girls join in then the boys.

Then we sang the school song. We went through it a few times then Mr Brown told us to stop. Mrs Baker and Mr Brown ah came up with a new move. It was sliding across while doing jazz hands. We did this a few times and the it was time to go. (What I did)

I showed Respect by listening to the commands.

Merit Evidence Librarian 2

Librarian

On Monday I did Librarian with Samantha L, Samantha W and Monique. We were on at lunch and we had to read books to the juniors down in the junior area on the deck.

First of all we went to the library and got a handful of books and a bean bag each.

Then we headed to the deck. As soon as we got there the little kids that usually come came running over.

They sat on our lap and we started reading. We read for the whole lunch.

When the bell rang we returned the books and beanbags and headed to class. (What I did)

I showed Respect by listening to the reader and Community when I got more little kids.

Flag referendum

Flag referendum

We were learning about the Flag referendum. We did an activity which got us thinking about both the flags. We weighed up the pros and cons then came up with a final decision.

I think I did well because I could say what flag I wanted and give a valid reason why.

Evaluate writers’ purposes and consider how they have used structure and language to suit these purposes. (Eg: I can make decisions about why the writer has written a piece of writing and how they have used particular structures and words to meet the purpose.)

This is my evidence for my WALT.

My next step is to get a new goal.

Merit Evidence Kapa Haka 2

Kapa Haka

Today I had Kapa Haka.

When I got there I took my shoes off and entered the hall quickly and quietly and went straight to my spot.

Soon after I arrived Kapa Haka started. The first song we did was He honere. We went through this song twice because the first time it was too quiet.

The next song we did was Whakatakatehau. We did this once but we stopped before we finished because some people sang it wrong. Then Matua Rihari said that maybe we would cut the end of the song for the Cultural Festival.

Then we sang Pa Mai. We did this song twice. We did it twice because the foot hitting was out of time. The last song we sang was Tahurihuri. We only sang this once because after that it was time to go. (What I did)

I showed Community and Respect by helping others if they were stuck and Respect by listening to the commands. (What I did)

I showed Respect by listening to the commands and Excellence because I was resilient when we had to sing the song heaps.

Merit evidence being a role model for the Kakano team 3

Being a role model for the Kakano team

Today at assembly I was a role model at assembly by

- Community: Being a role model for others by not talking
- Active thinking: Putting my hand up if any of the teachers asked a question
- Respect: Facing the front and listening to the speaker
- Excellence: Singing with pride and clapping at the appropriate time.

I also showed the CARE values by not cheering to loudly when I found out my house is coming first. (What I did and the values I showed).

Merit Evidence Kapa Haka 1

Kapa Haka

On Friday I had Kapa Haka.

When I got there I took my shoes off and quietly sat down in my line. When everyone had arrived we started practicing.

The first thing we did was practice our school song Taitapu. We practiced singing it, the actions and when we were meant to put more energy in.

Once we did that we practiced Whakatakatehau. We practiced singing it and the people that were new to Kapa Haka practiced the words.

Next we practiced Tahurihuri which is the song we do poi in. We practiced singing it and again the people that were new to Kapa Haka practiced the words. The year 8 girls hope to do long poi to this song soon.

After that it was time to go. (What I did).

I showed Respect and Excellence because I showed up on time and tried my hardest singing.

Merit evidence Librarian 1

Librarian

On Monday I did Librarian.

For my job as a librarian my friends and I get a couple of books and take them down to the juniors and read to them for a part of lunch.

This lunchtime the 2 books we choose were David gets in trouble and wake up daddy. Today was Sam W turn to read so she read both of the books while the rest of us sat down with the juniors and listened.

Once she was done reading we said goodbye to the juniors, put the books away and went and enjoyed the rest of our lunchtime. (What I did)

I showed Respect by listening to the reader.

Friday 4 March 2016

Games with the juniors

On Friday for the middle block the year 8 and a couple of year 7 played games with the juniors.

In the first block we planned out what game we were going to play with them. we had to do this activity with a partner. I went with Samantha L. We researched good games to play outdoors with little kids. We found a really good website that had 30 good games. We narrowed it down to 5 games. Then wed decided what ones the little kids would enjoy the most. We decided we wanted to teach them a game they wouldn't know and it got down to Skipping.

When we got outside to play the game we got 3/4 students to play the game with. For the first group we had we had all girls. For the 10 to 12 minutes we had them we did free skipping, challenges and races. We think that group enjoyed our game.

When the time was up we went and sat down again. Then we got another group. This time we had a mix of boys and girls. We did the same activities and again we think they enjoyed though we did have one girl that was scared of skipping so I played with her on the playground instead.

Then we had to pack up our game, say bye to the kids then head back to class.

Merit Evidence being a role model for the Kakano team 2

Being a role model for the Kakano team/leadership in the food forest

The past 2 days the year 8 and a couple of year 7 have been working down in the junior area helping with their schoolwork and in the Food Forest.

In the Food Forest we had to help by harvesting the seeds with the year 4 and putting them in paper bags ready for planting next time and pulling out all the weeds and unnecessary plants.

To harvest the seeds you have to pick the nearly dead flowers and there should be seeds on them. Next you put them in the paper bag with the correct name for the plant. The year 4 got to pick the seeds while the year 8 put them in the bag and name the bags. We did this in the last part of the first block on Wednesday.

When we were pulling out the weeds we had 1 group making a chicken tractor which is a fenced area in the Food Forest where the chickens can run around in. While they were doing that the other groups were walking around pulling out weeds and unnecessary plants. We did this for the whole middle block on Wednesday.

When we were down at the juniors the first thing we did was go to the library. We helped pick out books with them and read them with them and I also got to read a book to the whole class. When we got back to their class (room 19) it was time for Fruit Break. Miss V read them 2 books while they were eating. Once that as done it was time for Work Stations.

For the work stations there were 4/5 stations. I was at the Reading station. I helped them with there reading and I also read to them. I did this for the whole first block on Thursday.

I found working in the Food Forest and being with the juniors really fun.

I still have 1 and a half days to go. Here are some photos of us at the Food Forest. (What we did).

I showed Community by helping the little kids.
